Greater Taipei managed apartment buildings - research file (built 2026-10-31) ============================================================================= 17,403 rows: every apartment building in Taipei City (9,702) and New Taipei City (7,701) with a management organisation registered with the city (公寓大廈管理組織報備). 14,889 have a management committee (管理委員會) and 2,514 a single building manager (管理負責人). Re-filings of the same organisation are merged, and withdrawn or cancelled registrations (撤銷, 註銷) are left out. Taiwan's version of a strata or condo is a building that has registered one of these organisations. Buildings that never registered are not in the file. Taipei says about 73% of its eligible buildings had registered by March 2025. Coverage -------- on the map 96% · units 95% · floors 93% · year 99% · English name 1% Units come from: occupancy permit 8,786 rows (exact) estimate: doors and floors inside the building outline 3,852 rows estimate: doors and floors at the listed address 3,832 rows none 933 rows Known limits ------------ - Unit estimates are counts of registered doors and floors in the doorplate register (each "No. 5, 3rd floor" is one unit). Checked against about 3,900 buildings that also have a permit count, the median ratio for the outline method was 1.00 for buildings under 100 units and 0.78-0.96 for 100-299. Large complexes (300+ units) are undercounted, often by half, because they span several outlines. Shops and offices with their own door number are counted too, so mixed-use buildings come out high. - Permit records only go back to 2001 (Taipei) and 2002 (New Taipei), so older buildings mostly have estimates. - A permit shared by several committees (separate towers on one permit) is not split: those rows use estimates instead. - Year: the completion date on the permit where there is one, otherwise the year of the occupancy permit (年 + 1911), which is normally the completion year. - Floors: from the permit, or the highest floor in the doorplate register. Values over 70 were dropped as errors. - 718 rows (273 Taipei, 445 New Taipei) are not on the map: their address is missing, is only a street, or is not in the doorplate register. They are in the CSV with blank coordinates. - Building names come from the organisation name with the committee/manager suffix removed. 26 names contain "?" where the source lost a rare character. - English names exist for very few buildings. District and city names are in English and Chinese.
